Aluminium ist ein äußerst vielseitiges Material, das in zahlreichen Branchen eingesetzt wird. Auch die kosmetische Industrie verwendet es in reiner Form oder in Form seiner Salze.
Kontroverse um Aluminium
Seit Anfang der 2000 hat die Arbeit von Philippa Darbre Aufmerksamkeit erregt. Sie hat festgestellt, dass die Menschen im Alltag zahlreichen Aluminiumquellen u.a. in Form ihrer Ernährung und der Anwendung von Antitranspirantien ausgesetzt sind. Weiterhin, dass erhöhte Aluminiumkonzentrationen im menschlichen Brustgewebe anzutreffen sind.
Daraufhin hat sie einen möglichen Zusammenhang zwischen der Entstehung von Brustkrebs und der Verwendung von aluminiumhaltigen Antitranspirantien entdeckt.
2012 erhärtete sich die These, nachdem Stefano J. Mandriota, Mirna Tenan, Paolo Ferrari und André‐Pascal Sappino in vivo einen karzinogenen Effekt von Aluminiumchlorid (AlCl3) auf Brustzellen nachweisen konnten.
Zeitgleich beginnen auch offizielle Stellen wie das BfR und das SCCS verstärkt mit dem Thema Aluminium und Aluminiumsalze zu beschäftigen.
Verminderung der Aluminiumaufnahme
Das BfR rät dazu
- sparsam mit aluminiumhaltigen Antitranspirantien und aluminiumhaltigen Zahnpasten umgehen,
- sich abwechslungsreich zu ernähren
- sowie Produkte und Marken […] wechseln,
um das Risiko einer dauerhaft zu hohen Aluminiumaufnahme zu reduzieren.
Regulatorisches zu Aluminium
2020 stellt das SCCS fest, dass Aluminium bis zu folgenden Konzentrationen in kosmetischen Mitteln sicher ist:
- 6.25% in nicht zu sprühenden Deos und Antitraspirantien
- 10.60% in Deospray oder Antitranspiratensprays
- 2.65% in Zahncreme
- 0.77 % in Lippenstiften
und, dass die tägliche Anwendung von aluminiumhaltigen Kosmetika nur gering zur Gesamtaufnahme von Aluminium in den menschlichen Organismus beiträgt.
