Das Robert Koch Institut (RKI) hat im epidemiologischen Bulletin 17/2021 verschiedene Arten der Probenahme und des Nachweises von SARS-CoV-2 verglichen und kommt zu dem Schluss, dass „die von Fachpersonal aus den oberen Atemwegen entnommene und mittels PCR untersuchte Probe […] der Goldstandard“ bleibt.
Verglichen wurden dabei
- professionell und
- durch Patienten selber entnommen Proben
sowie der Ort und die Art der Probenahme
- oropharyngealer Abstrich
- nasopharyngealen Abstrich
- Abstrich der „vorderen Nase“
- Rachenspülwasser
- Speichelproben
und der Art des Nachweises mittels
- Antigen-Schnelltests und
- Polymerasekettenreaktion (PCR).
Zusammenfassend kommt das RKI zu den folgenden Schlüssen :
- Antigen-Schnelltests können zu „falsch negativen Ergebnissen trotz evtl. Infektiosität führen“.
- „Positive Antigen-Schnelltests müssen […] durch eine PCR-Untersuchung bestätigt werden.“
- „Die von Fachpersonal aus den oberen Atemwegen entnommene und mittels PCR untersuchte Probe bleibt der Goldstandard.“
